Susan La Flesche was the first Native America woman, and very possibly the first Native American person, to earn a medical degree in the United States. She was the only physician practicing Western medicine on her reservation in Nebraska, and served her community tirelessly throughout her career. Though her story is complicated, her contributions are important and make her one seriously Good Witch.
